In LIU Brooklyn’s Kumble Theater, the RocNation Musical Theater Workshop debuted 35mm: A Musical Exhibition in a two-night run full of collaboration and creativity.

Established in 1949, the prestigious event was created to honor distinguished journalists and to memorialize CBS correspondent George Polk, who died in Greece while covering the Civil War.

If you walk into this film hoping for a more direct retelling, you may find yourself clutching your pearls by the time the title sequence hits. But if you are willing to treat it as its own entity, a stylized, abstract piece of gothic fiction that sometimes mimics that of a peculiar fan-edit, there is some strange fun to be had.
