Da Baby, Da Baby, Da Baby is back! After taking some time to himself following an incident back in 2021 at Rolling Loud which almost ended his career, he came to show the world he’s still active in the game.
Starting from his rebellious nature down to his gentle side, he continues to show the world his strengths and weaknesses. HOW TF IS THIS A MIXTAPE? clearly shows his attitude and feelings towards the topic of whether this is a mixtape or album.
His first song In a Minute, gives a peak on his gentle side expressing the hardships he’s been going through since his outburst and throughout his life. Returning with his same flow was expected, but he soon shows up and serves up a new plate.
Next, we're going to get into some of my favorite songs on his project. Gimme a Reason is a clear and direct presentation of Da Baby’s personality and his feelings about the industry. This song also addresses the questions everyone’s thinking when learning this is a mixtape and not an album.
Carry It On is the next song on his project. This beat is phenomenal and allows him to change up his regular flow to show his fans he is multi-talented and can flow on any beat. This song also has previous elements he showcases in his lyrics of how he always has a gun. Same ole’ Baby, lol
My favorite song on the album is I’m Outside! This song has typical Da Baby lyrics with nothing too special but the production really made this song for me. I love how the pianos come in after the beat drops and give a melodic flow which honestly made me fall for the song.
If you ask me personally, nothing special about the lyrics but the beat carried the song, making it a whole vibe.
Did it was the most powerful song on his project, with much-needed lyrics that he needed to address. In the chorus, he says repeatedly:
"I did some wrongs… okay, I admit it/They not as strong so they not gonna get it.”
Which is clearly admitting his wrongs for speaking those harsh comments at Rolling Loud and owning the consequences of his own actions.
Again, as stated in my Future review, when celebrities humanize themselves and come down to their fan’s level, this can create a deeper connection by coming through as authentic.

I feel this is something people tend to struggle with all around the world. Not owning up to our mistakes or trying to roll over accidents without taking accountability or acknowledging our faults. This is very unhealthy and something we as people need to be more aware of.
The fact that Da Baby was a Billboard charting artist and still made a mistake that was detrimental to his career shows us that anyone could make a mistake and celebrities are not invincible. But, having the right attitude and accountability can turn any bad situation into an honest mistake.
My final favorite on his project is U Da Type. This song shows the side of his well-known sexually explicit lyrics and can keep you rocking. The beat is a slower old-style 90s beat with great harmonizing in the chorus.
Some songs that didn’t really stick out to me were PHAT, Reesha, Hate a Nice Chick.
It’s funny because when Da Baby first came out in North Carolina I remember hearing about a grown man calling himself “Baby Jesus” coming on stage with a diaper and I did not approve at all.
It seemed very weird but eventually years (and I mean years later) after seeing the things he went through, showed me that I like the person he’s become rather than who he was.

I would’ve never imagined doing an album review for Da Baby in a million years but seeing all the drama with Megan, Tory, Danileigh, and others through the years, has shown me the trials and tribulations everyone goes through, even celebrities. No one is exempt so staying authentic is key to your success.
