Lil Uzi Vert has unleashed another dope album with his signature creepy covert art. He never disappoints me and always keeps his Uzi flow, which is something I’m big on. Many artists tend to change with the music industry the longer they’re in the game, however, Uzi has been one of the few artists that keep his original swag and flow.
Uzi to me is a lyrical monster and knows how to ride the beat. While I don’t think his lyrics are the strongest, his ability to keep up with his fast-paced beats simply explains my reasoning. Here are some of my favorite and not-so-favorite tracks.
Now to start off his album with the song We Good was not a good start. I did not like the song much and felt it didn’t give me that typical Uzi head nod. This wasn’t bad, but I just feel that he could’ve put this song more towards the end and had the heavy hitters in the beginning.
When I skipped the song and got to Light Year I felt that head nod. I knew this was the song he should’ve led with. The switch up on his bridge was amazing, repeating:
“I don’t think that they ready.”
This made my body instantly move and I knew I liked it. Also being that the song is one of his shortest, he should’ve led with that.
Meteor Man was another hitter for me. The way he repeats his bridges and switches the beat is phenomenal. Uzi has a crazy producer who knows his flow and makes beats, especially for him. Definitely a Uzi flow.
Paars In The Mars was a song I was a bit confused about. While I understand he is a very creative and special individual, I could not understand what he was talking about at all. I listened to this song over six times and still no.
The Rush was the only song he had a feature on and it was Big Time Rush, which I believe only had one small verse at the beginning of the song which was a good complement to the song. Overall, I liked this song but felt the beat carried Uzi with this one as well, not much of his lyrics.
Conceited was another song I really like. This song reminds me of a song A Boogie did a feature a couple of years back. Great beat with the piano.
She Stank was a funny and understandable song because I have smelled the body order of some females in public bathrooms after going in right behind and I must say, I completely understand that one Uzi.
Not An Option, Lyft Em Up, Black Hole, Chill Bae, Goddard Song, and PerkySex were some of the songs I did not like, due to his lack of lyrics. I just didn’t like them.
Mr Chow, Chips and Dip, Space High were my least favorites on his album. Now honestly, Uzi has received a lot of backlash regarding this album and past albums with fans saying he has yet to bring an “unskippable” album and stating how his flow is unchanged from when he started in 2010.
Some are even joking and mocking Uzi for his boldness and style choices, not caring what anybody calls him. He has recently received backlash for the way he dresses, as fans jokingly compare him to his longtime girlfriend JT from the City Girls as “sisters.”
I personally felt he did okay on this album. There hasn’t been an artist whose album I haven’t skipped songs, so I believe that's honestly to everyone’s liking. However, I don’t agree with everyone else’s opinion on how this was not good. I say it's not his best, but definitely not his worst either. Give Uzi a break.
