Olivia Rodrigo kicked off her second world tour, The Unraveled Tour, in Hartford, Connecticut, on Sept. 25.

This heavily anticipated night was seen as a new beginning of an era, as she brought fans together to enjoy the release of her album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. Olivia was accompanied by her opener, Wolf Alice, who helped set the tone for the long night to come.

Rodrigo’s tour is inspired by her third album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, which encapsulates her roughly two-year relationship with Louis Partridge.

This album touched on the ups and downs of their adored relationship, showcasing that not everything on the internet is what it seems. She dives into the highs and lows of their relationship, the excitement of falling in love, and then the confusion that follows after the breakup.

Rodrigo opens the tour with multiple songs from the album and its lead single, drop dead. The performance begins with her singing in a beautiful field of flowers, creating that dream-like tone for this tour.

On Olivia’s part, something extremely creative is how she separated her set list into different seasons. The concert is separated into six acts: Spring, Summer, Summer Twilight, Autumn, Winter, and Spring 2. On a deeper level, the changing of seasons symbolizes how a relationship, just like the seasons, can change suddenly and drastically.

In this tour, you can sense Rodrigo’s confidence exuding to whoever is watching. Her whimsical and fun performance during songs like, u + me = <3, her performance is much more playful and carefree.

Her movements make everything feel less rehearsed and more on-the-spot. Olivia frolics through her flowery field, twirling her flowy dress as she sings. This tour is basically an excuse for her to have fun! You can tell how much fun this concert is not only for the fans, but for her as well.

This tour has a notably upbeat, whimsical, teenage-girl vibe. However, apart from all the happiness, there's also sadness.

Although the main focus was her newest album, she made sure to incorporate fan-favorite songs from her famous albums, Sour and GUTS. Olivia performed some of her slower, sad songs like begged, less, and traitor from her debut album Sour.

During her set, Olivia intertwines some of these songs in the middle of her much happier, upbeat songs. She shows two sides of a relationship: one moment you could be the happiest you have ever been, but the next second, questioning if anything was ever real.

By the end of the night, fans are able to take away the amount of effort and thinking that Olivia Rodrigo put into this tour.

The audience can clearly see how life can change in the blink of an eye through her artistic ways. From dancing through fields to standing alone in an empty spotlight, every part of the concert contributes to the story that she is trying to tell her fans.

The Unraveled Tour is one that anyone can enjoy, with all kinds of families showing up to watch Olivia’s performance. With colorful visuals, playful acts, emotional storytelling, and Rodrigo’s stage presence, the opening night in Hartford was truly a night to remember.
