By Allan Nosoff- Editor In Chief

The Kansas City Chiefs are Super Bowl LIV champions, wrapping-up the National Football League’s (NFL) centennial season with a thrilling 31-20 victory at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.

Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes took home Super Bowl MVP honors after throwing for 286 yards and two touchdowns. Although he threw two interceptions,Mahomes then led the Chiefs down the field for threeconsecutive end-zone drives in a crucial 4th quarter comeback. Prior to the comeback, the Chiefs were down 20-10 with just 11 minutes left in the game.

The 49ers scored first in the game, with a 38-yard field goal by Robbie Gould, in the first quarter.

The Chiefs took the lead after a 15-play, 75-yard touchdown drive orchestrated by Chiefs coaches, including Andy Reid; capped-off by a 1-yard touchdown run by Mahomes himself.

Both teams went into the locker room at halftime without a lead, as the game was tied 10-10. The league-leading49ers defense held the high-flying Chiefs offense to just10 points, altough the much-improved Chiefs defense caused an interception thrown by 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

And the Chiefs defense came-through when the team needed it most down the stretch, including several tipped passes by veteran defensive lineman Chris Jones late in the 4th quarter.

With under two minutes to play, and facing a 4th-and-10 in Chiefs territory, Frank Clark sacked Garoppolo, and caused a turnover-on-downs.

Although that play may have sealed the deal, the cherry- on-top for the Chiefs was a 38 yard run by Damien Williams on 2nd down that extended the Chiefs lead from four to 11 points.

This is Kansas City’s first Super Bowl title in 50 years, when they last won the trophy in Super Bowl IV.
