Brooklyn Roasting vs. The Health Inspector

On Feb 20th, 2026, the on-campus Brooklyn Roasting Company attached to the Pratt Building shut down due to poor temperature regulation for hot/cold items, evidence of rats found in the establishment, and no approved written procedure for avoiding contamination.
This information was gathered via NY public health records, yet was reopened on March 13th, 2026, after a cycle inspection was issued.
Students are left skeptical of the campus's silence, and many should be advised to double-check their food and drinks before purchasing.
Art House Cinema Week

Rafael Espinal, commissioner of New York City’s Office of Media and Entertainment, announced that from March 20th until March 26th, 5,000 free movie tickets will be up for grabs.
In order to qualify for this opportunity, you must be an NYC teacher, a U.S. military/veteran, a CUNY student, a person with disabilities, or a SNAP / EBT cardholder. 30 movie theaters, including the Alamo Drafthouse across the street from our Downtown Brooklyn campus, will be participating.
Julie Su, Deputy Mayor for Economic Justice, reminds us that “Access to arts, culture, and entertainment should be a right for every New Yorker, not a luxury for the few."
Venezuela Hits It Out of the Park

In the World Baseball Classic final, Venezuela came out on top for the first time against the U.S, winning 3-2. Applause and cheers erupted from the audience at Loan Depot Park, following “Gloria Al Bravo Pueblo”.
Eugenio Suárez delivered the final hit to give Venezuela the crown, breaking the 2-2 tie. He followed his impressive blow with these words from Fox News.
“Nobody believed in Venezuela, but now we won the championship today. This is a celebration for all of Venezuela. The union—we are together the whole time. We’re not just teammates, we’re all family. That’s why we play with passion, with love… we feel our country in front of us.”
Joseph Kent Resigns as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center

Joe Kent, the Director of the National Counterterrorism Center in the U.S, has chosen to resign from the position, saying he “cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran.”
He honors President Donald Trump, despite many criticisms of each other from both sides, buttering him up in many paragraphs across the letter. He ends it off by saying to Trump, “You can reverse course and chart a new path for our nation, or you can allow us to slip further toward decline and chaos. You hold the cards.”
Since then, he has had the FBI investigate him, and Trump stated that “It’s a good thing!” that he left.
Middle East Conflict Increases

Iran has struck Qatar’s largest LNG plant, encouraging the U.S to give another $200 billion in support of the war, despite the many weeks of blackout the country has faced.
Esmail Khatib died in a Tehran strike, following the death of Basij militia chief Gen. Gholam Reza Soleimani and national security official Ali Larijani. Over 3,000 people have died in Iran, reaching almost a thousand in Lebanon as well, while the U.S and Israel have only lost 30 people in total.
However, you can fight the bigotry, protest those who continue to be antisemitic, and show compassion for all ethnicities & religions, and continue to do so.
