Shark Scoop is a weekly roundup of five stories that examine developments in local, national, and global news, as well as a top headline in entertainment and sports.
Easter Island production on Campus

Earlier this week, production took place for a mysterious show labeled as Easter Island. The shooting for this show occurred just outside the Health Science building.
Not much was disclosed about what this show is or what was happening on campus regarding the nature of the filming. According to the Production List, filming took place at Long Island University (Brooklyn Campus), with both interior and exterior shots.
Man dies on ride at Six Flags

A man fell out of his seat and died on the Goliath at Six Flags on Oct. 12.
Identified as Hasan Jihad Ibn Kariem, he was ejected from his seat and injured four others before flailing to his death. Over 200 feet tall, the Goliath can hit speeds of over 70 miles per hour.
The Goliath incident led to similar rides across the country being closed for safety concerns. This event comes during the Halloween season, when amusement parks, like Six Flags, normally start nightmare events to celebrate.
A cargo ship sinks off the coast of the Strait of Hormuz

A container ship, called the GFS Pride, carrying over 2,500 containers, was sunk off the coast of the Strait of Hormuz after hitting what appears to have been a naval mine or projectile.
This event comes as we approach the eighth month of the Iran War, where the Strait of Hormuz and high oil prices are the center of attention. All the people onboard were reported to be okay after the incident. Other boats and fishermen were warned to look out for floating containers in the area.
Vision Quest debuts on Disney +

Earlier this week, VisionQuest had its two-episode debut on Disney+. VisionQuest is set to complete the Scarlet Witch/Vision trilogy of shows, stemming from WandaVision in 2022 and Agatha All Along in 2024. The show brings back one of the Avengers' oldest (in MCU movies) villains, Ultron, played by the incredibly talented James Spader.
In addition, other AI Marvel characters such as E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and F.R.I.D.A.Y. are part of the show. Hopefully, we will see Speed and Wiccan, Visions' technical children last seen in WandaVision, come back (or, in Speed's case, make his Marvel debut) to the MCU.
Brewers lead Dodgers 3-0 in NLCS
The Milwaukee Brewers are close to sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-0 in the NLCS.
The Dodgers, the winners of the World Series in 2024 and 2025, looked at a three-peat, but were crushed by the Brewers. They lost by one point in game one, three in game two, and four in game three.
It will be a difficult road coming for the Dodgers if they want to have any chance of coming back to the World Series. The next game for the Dodgers and Brewers is set for 8 pm on Oct. 15.
