The Singapore Grand Prix was held on October 5th, 2025, and resulted in many celebrations by the end of the night. Usually a dry race, drivers would have to drive on a damp track for the 62-lap race, having to choose from five different compound tyres. Many drivers opted for either soft tyres or medium tyres. No driver took the intermediate or wet tyres despite the damp track.
After a DNF in the Azerbaijan GP, championship leader Oscar Piastri was looking to make up the points lost to keep the lead over his teammate Lando Norris, who would start the race at P5, while Piastri would start P3. RedBull driver Max Verstappen (starting P2) would be looking to catch up to Norris and Piastri in the championship, hoping to make a comeback and retain his four-year streak.

George Russel, starting on pole position, kept his lead and finished the race P1 with a five-second gap to P2, earning his fifth career victory. Followed by Verstappen in P2 and Norris in P3. Norris made a move down the inside of Piastri during lap one to take P3 from his teammate, a crucial moment for the drivers’ championship.
In the midfield, Carlos Sainz was able to make up eight places, ending the race at P10 when starting from P18. The two Ferraris struggled with their cars on this track, Ferrari still not able to make the car work for their drivers. This, however, was not broadcasted.
Verstappen is still not able to change the statistic of winning at every other track on the calendar except for Singapore.
After having slow pit stops for the past two races, Norris finally got a decent stop, helping him maintain second place. However, despite having decent pit stops in previous races, Pistari experienced a slow stop at Singapore. Although this didn’t affect his position, it made it harder for him to try and reclaim P3 from Norris.
Norris finished the race with three more points than his teammate, who still leads the driver's championship, currently by 22 points. Verstappen trails Norris by 41 points but persists as a contender for the championship with six races remaining for the season.
With the season coming to an end, it seems that the title fight will continue until the last race in Abu Dhabi. The upcoming triple header will be crucial to the battle for points in the drivers’ championship. Drivers will have three back-to-back races, going from Texas to Mexico, then Brazil. The sprint races in Texas and Brazil will offer an opportunity for drivers who finish in the top eight to gain more points.

McLaren took the Constructors’ Championship for the second consecutive year at the end of the Singapore GP, winning the championship with a 325-point gap to Mercedes. The two McLaren drivers have been dominating the grid this season. With 18 races completed, Piastri has won seven while Norris has won five, totaling 12 races won.
Before 2024, the last time McLaren won the Constructors’ Championship was 1998. McLaren has gone from being a top team to falling to the back of the pack and has been working its way back up since then. The goal now is to secure the drivers’ championship; the last McLaren driver to be world champion was Lewis Hamilton in 2008.
With both McLaren drivers leading the drivers’ championship, it would seem that winning it will be easy, but with six races and three sprint races remaining, Max Verstappen can close the gap and take the Drivers’ Championship for the fifth consecutive year.
