On Mar. 18, Spider-Man swung into a Brand New Day when the trailer for Tom Holland’s fourth Spider-Man film was officially released.
This trailer went on to almost immediately break records, reaching 718.6 million views cumulatively in just 24 hours, almost double beating out the previous record of 365 million set by ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ in just 8 hours (Variety).
The trailer opens with Spider-Man resting upside-down over New York City in his gorgeous new suit, watching a video of Ned and MJ talking about their lives at MIT, describing it as the happiest they have ever been in their life. We see Spider-Man distraught before leaping into action with a very nice action shot depicting the inside of his mask. This sequence alone is a great start and shows the perfect characterization of Peter Parker and Spider-Man.

What follows is a montage of Peter reading the letter he wrote for MJ in the epilogue of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ over a montage of various shots. While on the whole, this trailer was visually impressive, one thing it does inconsistently is color saturation.
In some shots, it’s gorgeous and colorful, and in others, it almost feels afraid to stick to the style of a comic book come to life. The following are two very well-composed and nice-looking action shots; one is bright and vibrant, but the other is severely lacking in color.

Despite some of the aspects of the visuals being lackluster the majority of shots look lovely and pay homage to many of Spider-Man’s past appearances such as comic covers for Amazing Fantasy #15 and The Amazing Spider-Man #134 and shows the lengths the cast and directing crew has gone through in understanding what the fans want for the future of the character in terms of faithfulness to who Spider-Man is.
We are going to see Spider-Man struggle, financially, with his love life, and with the fights against the cast of villains appearing in the film.
These are the aspects fans love about the character, as it grounds him, it makes him the people's hero, someone anyone could relate to and look up to. It’s refreshing to see this level of attention to detail put into what we know about the story and characters for this film, and it makes the anticipation all the more exciting.
Speaking of the characters, just from the trailer, a slew of characters are confirmed for this film. Of course, Peter, Ned, and MJ are confirmed with guest appearances from other heroes such as Jon Bernthal’s Punisher and Mark Ruffalo's Hulk.
There are also villains galore: Tarantula, Boomerang, and the Hand have been confirmed for the film, and Michael Mando reprises his role as Scorpion in the new film. Sadie Sink is also confirmed to appear in the film, although her role is still ambiguous; a hooded figure featured prominently in the trailer, facing away, leads me to believe she may have already been shown off.

I think this is an excellent cast for a Spider-Man film that leaves little to be desired. With hints to story arcs that to me are similar to Man-Spider, with the black eyes and organic webbing he is shown to have in a few scenes in the trailer.
I’m looking forward to seeing some new and some old faces in this new look for Spider-Man, and what is next for his character moving forward.

There is much to be thrilled about in this trailer. The imagery and the dialogue breed excitement for this film, and with this exciting cast and team behind the film, coupled with the exciting dialogue featured in the trailer.
I’m left bubbling with anticipation for what’s to come for New York’s favorite hero. I will definitely be first in line on July 31st, 2026, when Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives in theaters.
