This past week, Marvel released a trailer for its next upcoming series, Wonder Man.

It’s been almost four years since the Wonder Man series was announced. Having faced setbacks due to writer's strikes, the show will finally come out and kick off the 2026 year. It will be the first MCU project of 2026, falling a few months before Daredevil Season 2 comes out. This will contribute to Marvel's Phase 6 and will be the next show to be released after Marvel Zombies came out in late September of this year.

The trailer for Wonder Man is quite simple. It opens on a neighborhood street, cutting to Von Kovak, a film director set to revive the character Wonder Man for a new movie. Simon Williams, who will be played by American actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen ll, is a struggling actor trying to find his big break. Ben Kingsley reprises his role as

Trevor Slattery, last seen playing him in Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Iron Man 3. In this show, he plays another actor auditioning for the role of Wonder Man. Both audition and end up getting the call back from Von Kovak.

The trailer does not give much insight on Wonder Man's superpowers, background, or connection to the already existing timelines in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is worth noting that according to MCU Wiki, Eric Williams, Wonder Man's brother, is casted to appear in this show as well. He will be playing the Grim Reaper, helping this character make his Marvel debut. Could it be possible that the show Wonder Man focuses more on civilian lifestyle rather than a super powered being fighting a new villain?

The show's plot differs from the Marvel Man in the comics. Originally, according to Den of Geek, Wonder Man was first introduced as a member of the Masters or Evil. His brain patterns were used by Ultron to help create Vision. Eventually coming back to life as an ionic being, Wonder Man joins the West Coast Avengers. He also was a part time stunt man, showing possible inspiration for the upcoming show.

Wonder Man has made an appearance in another Marvel show. Back in 2021, M.O.D.O.K. released on Hulu, with Wonder Man making a guest appearance in some of the episodes. In the few episodes with him, he plays both as a superhero and as an actor.

Wonder Man is the next show set to be released under Marvel Spotlight, which prides itself on showing character-driven plots. One other show that was also released under the same banner was Marvel's Echo, which was released to Disney + back in 2024. Wonder Man is finally set to come to Disney + on January 27, 2026 after being pushed back from its original release date of December 2025. At this date in January, all eight episodes will be released all at once.
