Celebrating its 97th year, New York City is gearing up for its annual Thanksgiving Day parade. Spongebob Squarepants, Ronald McDonald, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid are fan favorite confirmed floats taking to the sky this year, but they will be joined by a few new floats as well.

28 floats will be towered above NYC this year. The parade has also moved up half an hour and will begin at 8:30 am. Cher is the headlining musical guest this year, and will also be joined by Pentatonix and more. Olympic Silver Medalist Jordan Chiles will also be in attendance. The parade will be wrapped up by the Radio City Rockettes as usual.

Rosalynn Carter, wife of former president Jimmy Carter, has passed away at 96 years old. Mrs. Carter was a devoted advocate for mental health and a humanitarian. "Mrs. Carter has been the nation's leading mental health advocate for much of her life. First in the Georgia Governor's Mansion, then in the White House, and later at The Carter Center, she urged improved access to care and decreased stigma about issues surrounding mental health," the Carter Center said in a statement after her dementia diagnosis.

During Jimmy Carter’s presidency, Rosalynn Carter would often go to cabinet meetings. Mrs. Carter had quite a hand in American politics; she also influenced the Israel-Egypt peace treaty in 1979.

Mrs. Carter leaves behind her husband, Jimmy, and her children, Amy, Donnel, James, and Jack.

Pivotal Election Taking Place in Argentina

Argentinian citizens will have the opportunity to elect their next president on Sunday, Nov. 19. A runoff election is taking place after candidates Javier Milei and Sergio Massa took home 37 and 30 percent of the country’s votes, respectively. The presidential election comes as Argentina is in the worst economic crisis in decades, with inflation hitting a high of 140 percent. Two in five Argentinians now live in poverty.

Javier Milei has been compared to former President Donald Trump. Mr. Milei has centered his campaign on an economic overhaul that would involve slashing both spending and taxes, closing Argentina’s central bank, and replacing its currency with the U.S. dollar. His opponent, Sergio Massa, has spent his entire life in politics. He served as mayor, a congressman, and in the cabinet of a former president. Massa has overseen the economy for the past 16 weeks, as it has plundered. The election will be a test for the country, and the candidates.

Ohio State passed Michigan to move into the No. 2 spot in the Associated Press’s coaches poll. Ohio State blew out Minnesota on Saturday, and Michigan had its closest game of the season against Maryland. The change comes one week before the annual Michigan v. Ohio State rivalry game.

Michigan’s head coach, Jim Harbaugh, has accepted the Big 10’s three-game suspension, and will not be on the sidelines for the rivalry game. The suspension comes after a sign-stealing scandal emerged and caught the attention of the NCAA. Michigan and Ohio State are currently 11-0. The game is certain to shake things up in college football
