Tom Holland was Injured on the Set of Spider-Man
Tom Holland hurt himself on set while filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. On September 19, 2025, Tom Holland got a mild concussion after a stunt gone wrong. Although production was halted for a few days, it is expected to have no impact on the scheduled release date of this new movie, which is set for June 2026. This will be the next Spider-Man film to join the franchise since the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which came out almost five years ago in 2021.
TikTok Bought by American Investor Groups
The social media platform TikTok has been bought by an American investor group. Following on the heels of a ban of apps like TikTok and Marvel Snap, which happened on January 19, 2025, America has been trying to find a way for TikTok to be bought by American investors.
Mainly due to data and privacy concerns, America began to seek out a deal to move TikTok away from ByteDance, its previous parent company. According to the website Tech Crunch, American investors are said to have an 80% stake in the company, leaving the rest to Chinese investors and ByteDance itself.
Starbucks Plans to Close Stores Nationwide
Starbucks plans to lay off 900 corporate employees and close some of its underperforming stores. As a part of a one billion dollar restructuring plan, Starbucks will close 1% of its stores in North America, closing stores that simply weren’t making enough money.
In addition to the loss of revenue from these stores, Starbucks is also facing increased competition and higher inflation. Inflation has caused Starbucks to increase its prices, charging 80 cents for most syrups or sauces as of June 2025. The increase in prices has forced them to make this difficult decision to close some stores.
Tunnel to Towers 5k Run
The Tunnel to Towers 5k run is happening on Sunday, September 28, in Manhattan. The race is meant to commemorate and honor firefighter Stephen Siller, one of the many first responders who were killed in the events of 9/11.
The race route runs from the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel all the way to the World Trade Center, following in Siller's steps. The Tunnel to Tower foundation, started by the Sillers family, continues to serve and help families and friends of first responders who lost their lives while in service.
New York Liberty Departs from Head Coach Sandy Brondello
The New York Liberty parted ways with their head coach, Sandy Brondello. Sandy Brondello has been a part of the New York Liberty for the past 4 years, beginning her stint as head coach in 2022.
Despite leading the team to a WNBA championship win in the 2024 season by defeating the Minnesota Lynx, the team fell to the Phoenix Mercury in Game 3 of the first round.
Jonothan Kolb, the general manager, commented on the firing, saying that “…evolution and innovation is what we needed at this time.” At the moment, no one has replaced her as head coach.
