New York City has initiated preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will begin in June. Eight matches will be held at the MetLife Stadium, including the final match in July. New York City expects over one million visitors during the World Cup.

On Thursday afternoon, the New York Mets kicked off their 2026 season with a win against the Pittsburgh Pirates. A key contributor to this win was Carson Benge, who serves at the right-field position for New York. Benge hit a home run in the bottom of the sixth to give the Mets an extra insurance run and make the score 10-5.
